PBA Motoclub - A Weekend to Remember

Winnipeg Selection and PBA Motoclub

As we soak in July, it’s nearly impossible not to reminisce on the PBA Motoclub weekend at the end of June.

Prairie Basketball League (PBL) travelled to the Investors Group Athletic Centre in Winnipeg to put on a show. The evening featured three games: Steinbach U15 vs. Winnipeg U15, FBA Steinbach vs. Pembina Valley and Winnipeg Selection vs. PBA Motoclub.

The next generation of players showed off their skills to kick off the event. Steinbach U15 fought hard and kept their heads in the game but fell to the Winnipeg U15 squad.

FBA Steinbach saw an intense matchup as they faced Pembina Valley. It was a back-and-forth battle throughout the game, but FBA Steinbach came out on top and took the victory.

Meeting basketball heroes and idols is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and playing against them is an even bigger dream. That is what happened for the Winnipeg Selection squad. The showdown was star-studded as the PBA Motoclub roster included fan-favourites Jayjay Heltebrand, Marc Pingris, Cyrus Baguio and more. In the end, PBA Motoclub edged Winnipeg Selection.

Thank you to event organizers—Jasel Dela Paz, Manny Aranez, Carl and Ween Eusebio and Jun Dunglao—for making this event possible!

The Winnipeg Sea Bears are Manitoba and CEBL’s (Canadian Elite Basketball League) newest professional basketball team. Join PBL and Aim High’s players, family and friends to watch the top-ranked Sea Bears (8-5) in action against Montreal Alliance (6-7). The game is on Friday, July 14, at the Canada Life Centre, and tip-off is at 7 PM. Discounted group rate tickets are available for $20 at prairiebasketballleague.ca/seabears.
